Away from the Space Marines and Inquisitors there are systems, entire sub-sectors even, where the Tech-Priests are still a secretive and powerful guild, but dominated by philosophies dedicated to improving the lot of humanity in general, where governorships are decided by a (semi-oligarchic) democratic system, etc. Despite this, the Imperium isn't nearly as universally crapsack as it would seem. This is also why Abbadon is seemingly incapable of any really significant victories. The reason why the Imperium seems like the worst possible government is because it was pretty much designed to be. The Imperium as it exists is functionally identical to what a galaxy spanning empire of Chaos Undivided would be, and is the result of a compromise among the gods to keep humans and their tasty, tasty emotions so prevalent while also ensuring the maximum amounts of hedonism, bloodlust, ambition, and despair.
The Horus Heresy did not end in a loss for chaos, even if it did for the traitor legions. In the same way Sleanesh is the Eldar's fault, Tzeetch is the Old One's. He's also a billion times nicer than the Emperor of the Imperium ever would have been since that man's evil was measured in mega-Hitlers. + There *IS*, however, a God of Chaos resembling the Emperor in the Warp, though. The Emperor is not going to become a God because he's long since had all remnants of his personality and consciousness eradicated. He's Ozymandias.and they're Doc Manhattan. He lacks the humility as the most powerful human ever to comprehend he's utterly out of his depth. + The Emperor of the Imperium COMPLETELY MISUNDERSTANDS Chaos despite his normal super-genius abilities and gifts at everything. They may also make you immortal and have difficulty understanding why you'd dislike having your insides on your front forever while doing it. Yes, they may eat a baby, but that's because it's delicious. + Most Chaos Demons are not so much evil as like Exalted's Fair Folk. They are gene-coded to think in military and ordered thought patterns. + Abaddon and the Chaos Marines, with rare exceptions, are COMPLETELY unaware their gods are not stereotypical Lords of Hell but more akin to the inscrutable Daedra. Nurgal is the guy you really think needs a bath and is socially awkward beyond all reason but you hate telling no.Īnd yes, the irony of them being RPGers in a wargaming franchise is all the stranger. Khorne is the hack'n'slasher, Slaanesh wants to get laid with all the hot NPCs while playing a bisexual stripper ninja elf. This really is one gigantic game to all four of them and Tzeenach is the guy who sets up the games. + The Chaos Gods are incredibly immature. You can also post regular Warhammer stuff here.
